Though Kenzie Academy may only offer two programs, students at this bootcamp will learn useful skills that can be transferred to many working environments. Whether you want to become a web developer, UX designer, or even work in digital marketing, these courses provide the skills you need to succeed.
If you want to learn user experience (UX) design, Kenzie Academy is a great place to start. This program is offered part-time only, and can currently be taken anywhere remotely. The program takes six months to complete, and you will spend around 12 hours per week studying.
While enrolled in the UX Design Career Program, your studies will be split into three different categories: fundamentals of UX and UI, hands-on design work, and how to be a team player. Each aspect of the program is designed to help you grow as a UX designer. In addition, it will help you develop as a professional in the tech world.
All of the projects you build during this program are designed to be used as part of your professional portfolio. You will start on these real-world solving projects after learning the fundamentals of UX and UI design. While working on projects, you will be assigned projects in a team environment where you learn how to work as part of a design team. Every aspect of this $10,900 course is meant to help prepare you for a future in UX design work.
The Software Engineering Program at Kenzie Academy is a bit more diverse in its applications to real-world work. While it can prepare you to work specifically as a software engineer, it also prepares you for any developing or programming career.
To this end, you will learn full stack software engineering, including versatile programming skills such as learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and Django.
As is the aim of Kenzie Academy’s programs, the Software Engineering Program will help you to feel career-ready upon graduating. You will learn the most sought-after coding languages, as well as the skills needed to continue learning new languages as needed.
The full-time program curriculum is project-based, so you will spend a lot of your studying time completing projects. You can then add these to your professional portfolio.
This $20,000 program takes nine months to complete, six of which are spent studying front-end work and the remaining three delve into backend programming. During this time, you will be expected to put in 30 hours a week for studying and adhere to the schedule given to your cohort.
Unlike some other coding bootcamps, Kenzie Academy offers a very straightforward admissions process. The founders of Kenzie Academy started the bootcamp with the goal of making education more accessible. Therefore, the admissions and acceptance process is less stressful for applicants.
The first step in the Kenzie Academy application process is to fill out an online application. This application is very simple. All you need to do is determine which program and cohort you want to enroll in.
Once your application has been received and reviewed, an admissions counselor will contact you to schedule an interview. The interview is always conducted over the phone and will usually take around 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
After your interview call, all you have to do is wait to hear back from the admissions counselor. If you are accepted into the program, you will determine the best payment method for you, and then you will start learning.
The interview phase of any application process is arguably the most intimidating step. Luckily, Kenzie Academy offers a much more relaxed interview phase than other coding bootcamps, and it centers around your goals.
There are three aspects your admissions counselor will consider when deciding if you are a good fit for the program. These are your attitude, aptitude, and experience. You will be asked questions about your motivation and time-management skills to determine if you have the right attitude going into the program.
To determine your aptitude for the program, you will be asked a few personality-based questions. These are designed to determine not only if you have the right aptitude for a coding bootcamp, but if Kenzie Academy is the right learning environment for you.
While you are not required to have many technical skills going into the Kenzie Academy programs, you will be asked about your tech background. This is to help determine if you need a bit more time to prepare, or if you are at the right place in your tech career to undertake a bootcamp program.
During the interview, you will also have plenty of time to ask any questions of your own. Many students at Kenzie Academy have suggested writing out all of your questions ahead of time, so you don’t forget them during the interview. The admissions counselors are helpful and happy to answer any and all questions, so be sure to ask everything you want to know.
Though the tuition can seem expensive, Kenzie Academy offers a few different payment methods to make its programs more affordable. Your admissions counselor will work with you to determine the best option for you.
An upfront payment can be convenient if you are able to afford all of the tuition at once. This payment method means you would pay either $10,900 for the UX Design Career Program or $20,000 for the Software Engineering Program at the time of registration.
Kenzie Academy is partnered with Outcome Loans to help make the programs more easily accessible to students. You can apply for regular student loans, or you can apply for a deferred tuition loan. The deferred tuition loan allows you to wait up to six months after graduating or until you land a job paying $40,000 annually or more to begin paying back the tuition.
There are two options for monthly interest-free installment payment plans. The first is a 12-month payment plan, in which you would pay a $500 deposit and payments of $1,458 per month for one year. The other option is a 24-month plan, in which you pay the same $500 deposit, but pay $812 per month for two years.
Coding bootcamps in general are fantastic for kickstarting your tech career. Although the programs offered and tuition costs play a huge role in determining which bootcamp you attend, each bootcamp has its own special factor.
The unique aspect of Kenzie Academy is that it was initially created for the underdogs. This means the programs at this bootcamp were designed for everyone who struggled with college and university degree plans, trade schools, and even public high schools.
So, if you struggle with traditional education systems and want to become a web designer, software engineer, web developer, UX designer, or any other related tech career, Kenzie Academy may be a good fit for you.

Kenzie offers a hands-on learning environment where you learn by doing rather than sitting in front of a lecturer and trying to retain that information. You learn how to learn fast.I love this project based learning aspect at Kenzie. The environment is great. Instructors are super supportive and go above and beyond. You not only learn to code but you will also learn the soft skills needed . Overall my experience at Kenzie so far is amazing. The curriculum is current. Kenzie Academy is a great place for learning. They welcome students from diverse backgrounds to learn useful skills in a meaningful way that will actually prepare you for the “real” world. They teach skills that you cannot learn in a month long bootcamp and provide a more well-rounded experience than you can find anywhere else. The first year is front/back end development and the second year is a paid internship. You cannot find this kind of educational set up anywhere else. They also offer an income share agreement that will keep you free from student loan debt. For me, Kenzie Academy was pretty much a no-brainer when I decided it was time to take a drastic step in advancing my career potential.

I’ve been part of the 2nd user experience design chort at Kenzie Academy for 7 months now and i could not be in a better place. When starting at Kenzie I knew almost nothing about UX design but over the past 7 moths I can say i feel more than job ready. Along with the second half of my one year track whitch is front end development . I am now learing how i can take all the designs i’ve man and actually build them in a full functioning app/website. Dont feel like I am dragging my self into class everyday like some of my college experience was like. I enjoy feeling like im a real work environment learning hands on how my day to day might feel like at a real company.

I am in my upper 20’s, changed my career, previous college degree (unrelated), minor (very minor) experience in coding coming in to Kenzie.
I was looking for an out of my previous career and found this. I liked that this education model includes the ISA, it shows that the school won’t succeed unless the students do. After I graduated I ended up finding a poisition on my own efforts through networking and applying on my own. I was provided opportunities through the school’s resources but either someone else was selected or the the position was less than ideal, (why I gave 4 out of 5 in job assistance).
There are multiple opportunities to teach and coach others, or be coached, so gives a full breadth of experience. I will say the majority of the curriculum is really solid, and can teach a beginner what they need to know, but like any fast track programs I recommend putting in effort outside of core hours, and look beyond the scope of what they are teaching. I do see room for improvement in the back end curriculum, I suppose that would be my only ‘complaint’, but it was still really good. (curriculum would be 5/5 if they improved the backend)

I just wanted to start off by saying how grateful I am to have found Kenzie Academy during this process of “Getting into Tech” journey. I have discovered another side of me that I’ve given up on due to life-changing events (liked becoming a full-time mom). After going through several assignments/assessments at Kenzie Academy, it has become extremely rewarding to test my capability and knowledge during the learning process. I was so used to doing self-paced learning that when I had access to a coaching/mentorship at Kenzie, I knew I was in good hands and I was no longer afraid to fail. Whenever I had a question or felt stuck on a problem, I always knew I could find help/assistance. They are very supportive and really believe in you. I mean, for a year, they are investing in you without getting paid in return during that time, that tells you that they are trying to change the way education works now and for the future. Everyday, I seriously get excited waking up to look forward to what I’ll get to learn next at Kenzie. They have given me a new purpose in my career pathway and I am forever grateful!
