The school takes a holistic teaching approach to get you ready to take on your dream tech job upon graduation. You will not only learn the essentials of computer science but additional skills to help you navigate the tech scene with ease.
You will learn computer science fundamentals. The classes will cover algorithms, data structures, web applications, and web development. Unfortunately, Make School cannot help you become a web designer or network engineer. However, there are other bootcamps offering suitable courses for those roles.
The entire curriculum is project-based. You will learn techniques to help you succeed as a web developer in the tech market. You have a wide range of options to choose from. You can specialize in data science, front end web development, backend web development, and iOS development.
The school is keen on building both your technical and soft skills. The entire learning environment will help you grow as a professional in the industry. Group projects, discussions, and guest speakers will all help bring an extra dimension to your character and soft skills.
Make School does not shy away from bold topics about race, ethnicity, and gender. You will discuss these topics as part of the school’s liberal education objective. The sessions will help you broaden your view of the world. In addition, you will also learn how to manage personal finances. This is a key soft lifeskills to master.
Applied Computer Science – Online
If you are not in San Francisco, you can still access Make School’s courses online. The school designed the on-campus and online courses to have a similar core experience. You will attend the classes at the same time as the in-person cohort. The schedule is 9:30am to 5:30pm (PST), Monday to Friday.
Make School is entirely flexible. So, if you initially attend on-campus, but decide it’s not for you, it’s easy to switch to the online program.
The online program runs for seven weeks for each term. To graduate, you must complete all five terms in the allocated time frame. Once you graduate, you will have a large network of Make School alumni to help you navigate the dynamic industry.
If you are looking for a software engineering program, you should sign up for a Make School course. The school offers you flexible learning programs to help you navigate the industry. You will have plenty of products at the end of the lessons for your portfolio.
Admissions: How Do You Get Accepted to Make School?
If you plan to be an on-campus or online student at Make School, you must familiarise yourself with its criteria. The school offers an inclusive approach to all its students. The entire selection process ensures the team gets a sense of who you are.
The admissions team wants students who have a growth mindset, a passion for learning, and a collaborative spirit. You must also demonstrate love for building apps, and a desire to find solutions. You do not need coding experience to join the school. It is a beginner-friendly platform.
Make School Application Process
Make School’s application process is straightforward. First-year applicants should submit an online application by the stipulated date on the website. Once your application is approved, you can move on to submit your official documents.
You can submit your SAT or ACT scores to improve your chances of admission. You may also be required to submit any letter of recommendation you have.
Expect to receive a 30-minute call from the admissions team if you are successful. After the call, you will have a Spark session. Spark is a fairly simple coding experience for new programmers to test the coding waters. The admissions team will then take up to three weeks to make its decision.

Upfront Payment

I attended the 2015 Summer Academy and it changed my life. Before the summer academy, I had average background in CS from online courses. The outcome of the academy wasn’t just iOS development; as the course content is free and open-sourced. We learned product development from idea to shipping. The instructors are top engineers who are fun and great people. I made a lot of friends there whom I am still in touch with. I gained a lot of experience talking to investors and entrepreneurs. Now, I am a Junior CS student who works part-time as a Mobile Developer at Toptal.

As someone who just graduated highschool, I figured I would go to make school and start doing something with my life. With my huge ego I decided not to go in the explorer track even though I had basically no coding experience. I jumped right into the games track and within a few days we started working on the tutorials that were based around copying other games. They were easy, but for someone who knew almost nothing about code, it was a lot to process and I felt like I fell behind. After 2 weeks, when we started to work on pur own projects everything started turning around. With the help of the awesome games instructors and the tutorials and internet as resources I was back on track in no time, and by the end I finished and shipped a game I am quite proud of. Awesome stuff. Lots of good cheap nearby. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn to code, or to design products!

In Summer Academy, you can learning with your new friends. The instructors are all around and provide sessions and support for you. I’m a beginner in design mobile APP, this academy helps me build experience quickly. I think it’s powerful and helpful that you can get different good advice at the same issue from different instructors.

Make school ended a week ago and I truly miss it. What I love the most was the community of peers, we were all at different stage of our programming journey. Ranging from experience, beginners to complete novice and this common passion brought us all together. The instructors are fantastic!

Make School believes in learning by making. From the very first day you will start building apps and as you learn more you will build cooler apps. You will get a chance to work with other bright minds in a hackathon, where you and your team will build an app from scratch. You will also be challenged to come with an original app which you will ship to the App Store and present to a huge audience on demo day. Attending Make School is really cool and you will learn a lot, actually it will change your life and put you a level up in the tech playing field.

I attended the Make School summer academy in Tokyo. It was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. When the summer academy starts the instructors teaches us the fundamentals of computer science.
At first it might feel difficult when you start learning but once you get hang of it it becomes really fun learning how to make an app. During the summer academy instructors taught us Swift to make an iOS app for iPhone.
The most wonderful thing about Make School is that they teach us product design so that students can know what app they want to make and the instructors gives students very clear advice to improve their app ideas.
Make School instructors encourages students to make things and they encourage students to be passionate about something they like.
Joining the Make School community is really cool the community is the best part of Make School.
